Veteran-owned and operated

What's covered

Light fixture replacement

Ceiling lights, vanity bars, pendants and chandeliers replaced, including fixtures you picked out yourself.

Ceiling fan installs

Fans installed in place of an existing light, or old fans replaced. The ceiling box gets checked to make sure it's rated to hold a fan, because a standard light box isn't always.

Outlet and switch replacement

Worn, loose, cracked or dead outlets and switches replaced, and old almond and beige covers updated to match the rest of the house.

GFCI outlets

Ground-fault outlets for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, garages and outdoor outlets, where they protect against shock around water.

Dimmers and smart switches

Dimmers, timers and smart switches installed in existing switch boxes. Many smart switches need a neutral wire, and that gets checked before you buy one.

USB outlets

Standard outlets swapped for ones with built-in USB-A and USB-C charging ports.

Under-cabinet lighting

LED under-cabinet lights for kitchens, workbenches and other spots that need better light.

Exterior and porch lights

Porch lights, garage lights and motion-sensor fixtures replaced and sealed against the weather.

Done safely, every time

Power is shut off at the breaker and confirmed off with a tester before any work starts. Every connection is checked, and every fixture, fan and outlet is tested with you before the job is called finished.

Older Albuquerque homes sometimes hide surprises behind a fixture: brittle wiring, missing boxes, or work someone else did wrong. If anything looks unsafe, you'll be shown what was found instead of having it covered back up.

What's included, and what isn't

Desert Forge handles like-for-like replacements on existing wiring and boxes. New circuits, new outlets where no wiring exists, panel and breaker work, and rewiring get referred to a licensed electrical contractor, and you'll hear that up front if your job falls into that category.

Questions

Can you replace a light with a ceiling fan?

Usually, yes. The existing box has to be fan-rated or swapped for one that is, and that gets checked during the estimate.

Will you install a fixture I bought online?

Yes. Fixtures, fans and smart switches you bought yourself are no problem. Send the product link and it can be checked for fit before install day.

One of my outlets stopped working. Can you fix it?

Often the cause is a tripped GFCI elsewhere on the same line or a worn-out outlet, and those are quick fixes. If it turns out to be a wiring or breaker problem, you'll be pointed to a licensed electrician.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. Text a photo of the fixture or outlet and you can often get a price the same day.
